Don’t forget it’s Tuesday, and a whole new batch of Blu-rays and digital releases are out today.
This week The Shack starring Sam Worthington and Octavia Spencer is available in a 2-disc combo from Lionsgate. The edition includes a Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD copy via iTunes or UltraViolet along with several bonus features. The BD is formatted in 1080p at 2.39:1 aspect ratio with a soundtrack available in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.
Fist Fight staring Ice Cube and Charlie Day has also been released to a combo disc edition with a Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD copy from UltraViolet. The video is formatted in 1080p at 1.85:1 aspect ratio with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. The two-disc edition is lacking in terms of bonus materials, with only some deleted scenes and something called the “Georgia Film Commission.”
In television releases, our highlight of the week is The Last Kingdom: Season Two from Carnival/BBC. The show, based on the book series by Bernard Cornwell, tells the tale of Saxon-born nobleman Utred, who is brought up by the warring Danes. The three-disc edition from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has a total runtime of 8 hours and 7 minutes, including two featurettes “The Story So Far,” and “Return to The Last Kingdom: The Making of Season Two.” The episodes are formatted in 1080p at 1.85:1 aspect ratio, backed by a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack.
The action film Collide starring Nicholas Hoult and Felicity Jones, Oklahoma! starring Hugh Jackman, the documentary Future Shock! The Story Of 2000AD, and the remastered release of Ghost World by Criterion Collection are also new on Blu-ray this week, as well as Before I Fall, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, and Close Range.
Older, archive titles include One Two Three (1961), Evil Ed (1995), Horror House on Highway Five, Tough Guys (1986), The Sheik (1921), Pelle the Conqueror (1987), Blackenstein (1973), The Big Kahuna (1999), and Spotlight On A Murderer (1961).
And, animated series and movies new on Blu-ray include Speed Racer: Complete Series, Himouto Umaru-Chan, Captain Harlock Arcadia of My Youth, and Lupin the 3rd: Island of Assassins.
