Want to know what’s new on Blu-ray today, April 18th (otherwise known as Tax Day)?
M. Night Shyamalan’s Split is definitely the most advertised of this week’s Blu-ray releases, getting plenty of airtime during this weekend’s NBA Playoffs and other prime programming. The 2-disc combo edition from Universal includes Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD copies, as well as bonus content in deleted scenes, an alternate ending, and three production featurettes. The Blu-ray is formatted in 1080p at 2.40:1 aspect ratio with an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack.
Other film releases include Sleepless, The Founder, Donnie Darko (2001) Limited Edition, the Japanese anime film Ocean Waves (1993), a Collector’s Edition of Tales from the Hood (1995) and the animated DC Comics title Teen Titans: Judas Contract.
For TV shows, Killjoys: Season Two is now available, as well as the Japanese anime series Undefeated Bahamut Chronicles and Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon.
And, Criterion Collection has released a couple newly remastered titles for Blu-ray. Those include George Stevens’ Oscar-winning film Woman of the Year (1942) and the Wim Wenders Oscar-nominated documentary Buena Vista Social Club (1999).
