The MLB app for iOS and Android devices has been improved for the 2017 season with several new features that are worth the update. The app is available free of charge from iTunes or Google Play for phones, tablets, and other compatible mobile devices.
On both platforms, the MLB app includes expanded data for every player on all 30 MLB teams, and an enhanced Gameday experience with Hot/Cold Zones, a Live Gameday Hit Tracker, expanded Statcast data in the game feed, and a new design refresh.
Just as well, the apps for both platforms have been improved for overall performance including better Chromecast integration.
On Android, the MLB app has an expanded scoreboard for accessing line scores and highlights, new Team Home Screen shortcuts through the widgets menu, and a redesigned league scoreboard with access to video highlights.
On Apple iPad, the app has added team pages that gather all the scores, news, and video for your favorite club, as well as 3D touch notification improvements for faster video loading.
On iOS, the MLB app also has a new feature that allows users to customize iPad and iPhone home screens with an MLB club-branded team icon. However, this requires an iOS update of 10.3 or higher to use.
The apps are free in Lite mode, but can be upgraded to At Bat Premium for $2.99 per month. MLB offers a 7-day trial for those who want to test it out.
