Moonlight and Allied lead this week’s new Blu-ray releases.
At the 89th Academy Awards Moonlight took home the Oscar for Best Picture after an envelope snafu put the crew of La La Land on stage, but after everything was said and done now anyone can see what they missed at the theater. The film is now available on Blu-ray in a combo edition from Lionsgate that also includes a Digital HD copy through UltraViolet. Video on Moonlight is formatted in 1080p at 2.38:1 widescreen aspect ratio with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Price: $17.99
Paramount Picture’s Allied has also been released to disc but as well as Blu-ray is also available on 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray. Those with HD and 4k TVs can truly appreciate the beautiful costume design for which the film was nominated for an Oscar. Allied on Blu-ray is available in 2-disc combo packs that include either a DVD or Blu-ray as well as a Digital HD copy. Video is formatted in either 1080p (Blu-ray) or 2160p (Ultra HD Blu-ray) at 2.39:1 aspect ratio and backed by a 24-bit soundtrack in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Price: $19.99 (Blu-ray) $25.99 (UHD BD)
