Twitter starting rolling out apps for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Xbox One that allow live-streaming of Twitter content including NFL Thursday Night Football games, MLB Advanced Media, NBA, Pac 12 Networks, Campus Insiders, Cheddar and Bloomberg News.
In addition, content from Twitter such as top Tweets and top global Vines and Periscopes are also now available through the Twitter apps for all three devices.
And, unlike many online services that require an account to access content, users won’t need a Twitter account or cable or satellite account to watch the HD streams.
Twitter’s recent deal with the NFL brings 10 Thursday Night Football games this season to the once labeled “micro blog” platform. This Thursday will be the first regular season game when the New York Jets visit the Buffalo Bills broadcast by NFL Network.
Twitter for Apple TV is available globally via the App Store for Apple TV (4th generation). Twitter on Xbox One will be available in Australia, Brazil, Canada,Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Twitter for Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick are available in the United States and the United Kingdom.
[Editor’s note: We mistakenly identified tonight’s NFL game as the second game to streamed on Twitter.]
Twitter in all its WISDOM (none, actually) decided to exclude ROKU, one of the largest devices for streaming. And SLING, which directs it PAY for VIEWING public, to stream Twitter just smiles and collects its money for NOT providing. Warm pile… both of ’em.
