Amazon has given the green light to a 10-episode season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan based on the novel series by Tom Clancy. John Krasinski (13 Hours, The Office) will star as the CIA analyst who for the first time gets put on a dangerous assignment involving terrorism at a global scale.
Amazon didn’t provide a release date for the series, but says the 1-hour episodes will likely be shot in US, Europe and Africa. The Amazon original series will be co-produced by Paramount and Skydance Television.
“Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content,” said Roy Price, Head of Amazon Studios.
The Jack Ryan character has been portrayed in several films including The Hunt for Red October (1990), Patriot Games (1992), Clear and Present Danger (1994), The Sum of All Fears (2002), and the latest in the franchise Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014).
