Lionsgate has announced The Divergent Series: Allegiant will release to Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. The 4k release will add to the short but definitive list of Ultra HD Blu-ray titles from Lionsgate, and although the packaging does not indicate we expect the video to be enhanced with HDR specs like their initial Ultra HD Blu-ray releases.
Bonus material on the Blu-ray editions includes several featurettes along with audio commentary from producers Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher. Read this article to get more details about special features.
On Ultra HD Blu-ray, the film is presented in 2160p offering four times the video resolution of conventional 1080p Blu-ray. Audio will be available in English Dolby Atmos on both editions, and will down-sample to your highest audio quality setting.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant 2-Disc Blu-ray combo will include Blu-ray and DVD disc copies of the film, while the 2-disc Ultra HD Blu-ray combo will include both 4k and 1080p versions. Both editions also pack a redemption code to get a Digital HD copy of The Divergent Series: Allegiant via Ultraviolet or iTunes.
The film is also expected to release for purchase on Digital HD several weeks earlier than Blu-ray, 4k and DVD, however we don’t have a confirmed date yet.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant is the third film the franchise that stars Shailene Woodley as Beatrice “Tris” Prior. A fourth film, ‘Ascendant’, is slated for release in June, 2017.
