A Blade Runner sequel has been a topic of discussion among fans of sci-fi and Ridley Scott ever since the film’s debut in 1982, but when it was announced Harrison Ford would return as replicant assassin Rick Deckard (after calling the character his least favorite role in past interviews), you might say the stars aligned.
Alcon Entertainment announced the sequel to Blade Runner (with no official title yet) has been slated to release on January 12th, 2018 — a mere two years from now. The film will be distributed in North America by Warner Bros., with Sony Pictures handling international cinematic releases.
Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson) will co-star in the film with Ford, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sciario, Prisoners).
Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Green Lantern) are writing the film.
