Some residents of San Diego are now lucky enough to get G1GABLAST internet from Cox, with internet speeds up to 100 times faster than the average in the U.S..
The gigabit service, available in select areas, allows quicker downloads and more bandwidth for multiple devices to access the internet at home.
With gigabit internet, Cox says HD movies can be downloaded in less than 60 seconds, and 100 songs can be downloaded in less than three seconds.
Cox is the first company to offer the high speed gigabit service to residents in the San Diego area, and the initial launch of G1GABLAST also includes single-family home communities in Escondido and north San Diego.
Cox also announced customers with the Ultimate Internet package will get a speed increase from 150 megabits per second to 200 megabits per second later this summer.
The G1GABLAST service has already been launched in parts of Phoenix, AZ, Baton Rouge, LA, Orange County CA, Las Vegas, NV and Omaha, NB.
Cox plans on improving its infrastructure to provide 1,000 Mps residential internet service in all of its markets by the end of 2016.
