Lionsgate has revealed the release date for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 to home media formats. The film will first be available as a digital release on February 17th, followed two-and-a-half weeks later by the Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand releases on Friday, March 6th. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has surpassed $333 million at the North American box office since hitting theaters in November last year.
The Digital HD release will include several bonus features including an 8-part, feature-length documentary, tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman, Lorde’s curating of the soundtrack, a Lorde music video, deleted scenes, audio commentary, and a sneak peek of The Divergent Series: Insurgent.
On Blu-ray Disc, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will be packaged as a 2-disc combo with BD, DVD, and Digital HD copy. And, bonus content is listed as the same as the Digital HD release above.
Don’t hold your breath though, Lionsgate’s press release says those bonus features are subject to change. We expect the Blu-ray to have all of the bonus material mentioned, but the Digital HD purchase to be trimmed down a bit.
Extras on the single-disc DVD edition will contain audio commentary, deleted scenes, and a preview of The Divergent Series: Insurgent.
The Blu-ray Disc is formatted in 16×9 widescreen aspect ratio (2.40:1), with English TrueHD Atmos Mix and English 2.0 Dolby Digital optimized for late-night listening. The DVD is formatted in Anamorphic 16×9 with English and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital, and English 2.0 Dolby Digital.
