The sci-fi thriller Lucy from director Luc Besson starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman has been released early to purchase in Digital HD, pre-dating the Blu-ray Disc, DVD, and On Demand releases by two weeks.
We did a price comparison to find out where the cheapest place to buy Lucy is in digital format, and as it turns out most vendors have both the HD and SD copies selling for $14.99. A few places, like Verizon FiOS, Xfinity, and Best Buy have Lucy priced at $15.99. Strangely enough, CinemaNow is selling the HD format of Lucy for $1 less than the SD version at $15.99.
If you can wait, the Blu-ray Disc (which will include a Digital HD copy) and DVD formats of Lucy will hit stores on January 20th, 2015.
For those of you building up your UltraViolet-based digital movie collection, UV-supporting digital services include Flixster, Target, Walmart’s Vudu, and Best Buy’s Cinema Now.
