The Disney Movies Anywhere app is now available at the Google Play store, giving Android device users access to their Disney, Pixar and Marvel digital movie collections. The partnership between Google and Disney lets users also watch titles through Google Play Movies & TV, in the same way Disney titles link with Apple iTunes on iOS devices.
Android users can use the app to enter Digital Copy codes included with Disney, Pixar, and Marvel Blu-ray Disc and DVDs, as well as earn Disney Movie Rewards points for digital purchases. The app features an archive over 400 active titles, and provides some free content including original programming and never-before-seen videos.
Disney is also offering a free digital copy of Wreck-it-Ralph upon registering the app with Google Play. And, recent Disney home media releases Maleficent and Planes: Fire and Rescue include a redeemable Digital Copy with the Blu-ray Disc edition.
Movie titles can be streamed while connected to the internet or downloaded for viewing offline later.
“We want to make it easy for movie fans to enjoy all of their past and future digital purchases across all of their devices,” said Jonathan Zepp, head of Google Play Movies partnerships.
The Disney Movies Anywhere app for iOS devices launched back in February 2014, and last summer an update was issued that allows log-in from outside the United States.
