Digital movie service Vudu has begun an all-month “customer appreciation” sale during which time there will be a different blockbuster movie every day for $9.99 in HDX format. They’ve also got their usual monthly deals on select titles for $7.88 in HD and HDX format. And, select movies start at $5 for SD quality.
Today’s Daily Deal is Pompeii (2014) starring Kit Harington, Emily Browning, and Kiefer Sutherland. The $9.99 deal represents a 67-percent savings off the usual price of the film. Other titles currently on sale in HD or HDX format for $7.88 include Unknown (2010) starring Liam Neeson, The Pledge (2001) starring Jack Nicholson, and National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1983) starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo.
If renting movies is more your style, Vudu has 150 titles to choose from for .99 cents. The rentals are yours to watch for 72 hours once you start watching within 30 days after paying for.
HDX is Vudu’s highest quality digital format, providing video at 1920 x 1080p resolution and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. The service’s HD format (720 x 1280p) also offers Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound if available.
Vudu’s HD and HDX formats are now available for select titles to stream on PCs.
