Dish’s rollout of the ESPN Fantasy Football app will begin this evening for customers with the Hopper Whole-Home DVR system, just in time for opening weekend of the 2014/2015 NFL season. The free ESPN app delivers real-time fantasy football statistics to TV screens during both live and recorded games, and is can work with multiple ESPN fantasy football leagues.
As well as stats, the ESPN Fantasy Football app lets users follow their player’s performance, view league standings and matchups, defensive team profiles, bench stats, and other fantasy data. The content is displayed on the right side and bottom the TV screen, (see screenshot below) and re-sizes itself not to cover any of the game.
Dish subscribers who want to use the app will first need to create or join a league at es.pn/ffl, then sign-in to the app through the Hopper DVR using their ESPN fantasy football username and password. The app can then be accessed from any channel by clicking the blue button on the DISH remote and selecting the ESPN Fantasy Football icon.
At this time, Dish is the only television service provider to offer the ESPN Fantasy Football app, although football fans can find the app for Android and iOS devices at Google Play and iTunes, respectively.
