The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases this week to three home media disc formats including Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD. As with many blockbuster films, major retailers are offering exclusive editions of the film on Blu-ray Disc including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. Let’s take a look at what these exclusives offer so you know where to buy.
Amazon is offering an exclusive edition of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 named the “Electro Collector’s Edition” that houses the three included discs in a tray slot beneath a beautifully sculpted head of Electro. The discs include Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, and DVD, as well as a Digital HD copy with UltraViolet. The Amazon-exclusive carries a hefty list-price of $149 (a price even die-hard Spidey fans would bark at), but is currently available for $74.99.
Best Buy has two exclusive Blu-ray editions of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, one with the film on Blu-ray 3D and the other without. However, both versions contain an exclusive new limited-edition Marvel comic book, and, a Magno collectible case. The 2-Disc edition (red packaging) is selling for $19.99, while the 3-Disc edition (yellow packaging) is selling for $24.99. The editions also include DVD and Digital HD copies of the film with UltraViolet access code.
Target’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 exclusive is the Blu-ray combo pack with Blu-ray Disc, DVD, Digital HD copy (via UltraViolet), and exclusive bonus Blu-ray Disc. The bonus disc contains “Something Sinister This Way Comes,” a look through the pages of Marvel history at Spider-Man’s most fearsome foes (known as The Sinister Six), including The Rhino, Electro, The Goblin, The Lizard, Doctor Octopus, and The Vulture. The disc includes interviews with the filmmakers and Marvel luminaries. The Target exclusive is priced at $24.99. It does not look like Target offers the bonus disc with the Blu-ray 3D combo pack.
Walmart has a couple exclusive editions of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The first is a Blu-ray Disc, DVD & Digital Copy edition with special Vaultz Locking Pencil Case. We had trouble locating this exclusive on the Walmart website, so it may be only sold in-store. The edition is currently priced at $22.96. Walmart is also offering an exclusive 2-pack, with The Amazing Spider-man and The Amazing Spider-man 2 for $22.96. The Amazing Spider-man 2 is the Blu-ray combo pack with Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD copy (UV), while The Amazing Spider-man edition excludes the Digital HD copy. This one is available to purchase online.
