Sony confirmed yesterday via Twitter that PlayStation TV will be available in the US on October 14, 2014. The tiny, 65mm x 105mm device will function as both a game console and streaming media player, allowing you to rent, download or stream movies and TV shows from PlayStation Store, Music Unlimited and other entertainment apps. Compatible game titles will include select PlayStation Vita games, and classic games from PSone and PSP systems., playable with Dualshock 3 and Dualshock 4 controllers. The PlayStation TV will also allow you to use it as a second console on a different TV to play PlayStation 4 games over Wi-Fi or local wired network. And, expected later this year, PlayStation Now will let you stream PS3 games to the PlayStation TV.
The Sony PlayStation TV is packaged both as a standalone player and in a bundle with Dualshock 3 controller, 8GB memory card, and digital voucher The LEGO Movie Videogame. The PS TV, now available to pre-order, is priced at $99.99 for the player and $139.99 for the bundle.
