AT&T recently announced the launch of 1 Gigabit per second internet speeds in Dallas and Fort Worth, now the fiber-optic service provider has confirmed rollout of 1Gbps service in the City of Nashville. The symmetrical upload/download speeds will offer customers quicker download times for movies, as well as improved performance for online gaming, streaming video, and other bandwidth-demanding activities. The company says the AT&T GigaPower network will give U-verse customers the ability to watch and record five simultaneous HD streams at the same time. Initial deployment will be limited to select areas, however, as AT&T continues expansion throughout the year and into 2015.
“This kind of technology is important to keep our city vibrant and attractive, and it is further proof of how Nashville is positioned as a city of the future. We look forward to working with AT&T as they bring this exciting new service to our residents,” said Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.
