LG has delivered two new 4k ‘Ultra HD’ TV models to retailers throughout the U.S., with prices competitive to other 4k manufacturers including Sony, Samsung, and Toshiba. In fact, the prices are considerably lower than LG’s previously shipped LA9700 series of 4k models that have already seen a price drop.
Compare those prices to the LA9700 series which now carry list prices of $4,499 for the 55-inch and $6,499 for the 65-inch. The bigger price tags are justified though, as the LA9700 series use LG’s proprietary Nano Full LED array backlighting technology, and feature a unique sliding speaker.
The new LG LA9650 series includes both a 55-inch class and 65-inch class. The 55-inch is priced at $3,499, while the 65-inch is priced at $4,999. Both models feature Smart TV integration, TruMotion 240hz refresh rate, Tru-Ultra HD Engine, LG Cinema 3D (with 2D to 3D Conversion), LED Plus for better contrast and brightness, and IPS panel for more accurate colors when viewing from all angles.
The TVs also include two-player split screen gaming with LG’s Dual Play technology. With Dual Play, gamers can wear the LG’s battery-free glasses to see only their gameplay (in 2D).
LG also sells their flagship LM9600 84-inch class 4k TV for $16,999. That model was released a year ago this fall.
