Dish Network-owned Blockbuster has released an app for Apple iOS devices that lets you search for titles, watch trailers, view new releases, and manage your Blockbuster By Mail queue. With the free app you can also find local Blockbuster locations, check for title availability at a specific store, and switch from English to Spanish language. The app supports iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad tablets, and requires iOS version 5.1 or later. The version 2.0 app (updated May 18, 2013) is also optimized for both iPhone and iPad sized screens. Blockbuster says their rental catalog consists of over 100,000 movies and TV shows.
“Blockbuster By Mail members no longer have to be at a computer screen to add, re-prioritize or organize movies in their queue,” said Mitch Weinraub, Blockbuster vice president of product.
The Blockbuster By Mail service starts at $9.99 per month for one disc at a time. The company is currently offering 50%-off the first two months of service.
Blockbuster apps that Android devices were released earlier this year.
