DIRECTV has announced they’ll be switching Sports Mix Channel to HD, and subsequently removing the SD version. Sports Mix provides a grid of channel feeds, allowing viewers to watch eight live sports channels at one time. It’s also a great way to find what channel a specific sporting event is on without having to search around the DIRECTV guide. For subscribers still watching standard-definition only, the channels found on Sports Mix will still be available in SD on their respective channels.
Sports Mix has come under scrutiny in the past, with customers complaining about the low video quality of the channel. One DIRECTV subscriber even called the channel “a total waste of effort and time to put it on the screen.” But with the transition to HD, Sports Mix will most likely become more of a destination for sports fans, especially those with large enough HDTVs.
Sports Mix can be found on DIRECTV channel 205.
Totally lame that you can’t customize the HD Sportsmix channels. It’s NFL Wildcard Sunday and stuck with figure skating, soccer match from some countries no ones ever heard of and no playoff games.
Cmon man,
