Xbox One won’t play 360 games, used games to cost a fee, say sources

xbox one controllerWell it’s only been an hour since the big Xbox One reveal, and the negative news is now trickling in. While the topic of backwards compatibility was not touched on by Microsoft during the event, reports by Wired and Engadget point to Xbox 360 owners being screwed in their quest to bring their library of games with them to the new console. Engadget says the Xbox One will not play 360 game discs, nor will it play Xbox Live Arcade games. Wired reports that all Xbox One game discs will have to be installed to the 500GB hard drive, and for that disc to be used with another account, a fee will be charged to unlock it. So much for the digital distribution age, huh?

Your Gamerscore and Xbox Live Gamertag will make the switch no problem though, so there’s that.
