OUYA has confirmed the launch date for their much anticipated open gaming platform will be June 4, 2013. Available first in the US, Canada, and the UK, the OUYA will sell for $99.99 and include a console and one OUYA controller. Extra controllers will retail for $49.99. The OUYA platform allows you to try games before purchasing, and according the company press release there are already more than 8,000 game developers working on titles for the platform. The OUYA system is powered by an on-board Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset capable of displaying 1080p HD graphics to your HDTV. The OUYA also supports apps such as Twitch.tv, Flixster, and iHeartRadio.
Retailers already taking pre-orders on the OUYA include Amazon, Best Buy, GAME, GameStop, and Target. OUYA also sells units directly from their website at http://www.ouya.tv.
The OUYA platform, one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns, was funded by over 60,000 contributers reaching approximately $8.5 million in contributions.
