Paramount has announced Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season Three on Blu-ray Disc will officially release on April 30, 2013. The six-disc boxed set will contain all 26 episodes of TNG, including “Sarek,” “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” and “The Best of Both Worlds, Part 1.” Extras on the BDs include the featurette “Inside the Writers’ Room” (HD), the new multi-part documentary “Resistance Is Futile: Assimilating The Next Generation” (HD), “A Tribute to Michael Piller” (HD), audio commentaries, episode promos and blooper reel (HD). As with the first two seasons, Season 3 has been newly restored to 1080p high-definition and we’re expecting a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack like the first two seasons. Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season Three carries an MSRP of $129 but is currently available to pre-order from Amazon for $59.99.
Paramount also announced the title Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Best of Both Worlds will be released simultaneously with Season 3 of TNG. The disc presents “The Best of Both Worlds” saga in an extended 90-minute version along with extras such as “Regeneration: Engaging the Borg,” audio commentaries, and also with gag reel.
