Amazon announced today their UK-based streaming video service LOVEFiLM is now available on Kindle Fire HD (£159) and Kindle Fire (£129) tablets. The service comes pre-loaded on new Kindle Fire tablets, and is free for one month for new LOVEFiLM users in the UK. LOVEFiLM features include Watch List (a user’s unlimited playlist), Whispersync Technology (powering Pause and Resume across multiple devices), and X-Ray for Movies (which integrates IMDb). The integration of IMDb (an Amazon company) is probably the smartest thing Amazon could have done. While watching a movie a viewer can call up information from the movie database on-screen without leaving the film or TV show. To get LOVEFiLM, first time users can just log-in with their Amazon username/password. Existing LOVEFiLM customers, for the meantime, will have to log-in with both accounts. Amazon says they’ll have this condensed to one log-in step in the near future.
