DIRECTV & CBS renew carriage agreement

DIRECTV and CBS have announced a long term deal has been reached to continue retransmission of CBS owned stations, as well as continued carriage of Showtime, CBS Sports Network, and Smithsonian Channel. Although financial terms were not revealed, both parties appear to be amicable. Martin Franks, Executive VP Planning, Policy and Government Relations at CBS Corporation says, “DIRECTV clearly recognizes the value our stations and our cable channels bring to the audiences we share.” “This is great news for our customers, who will continue to enjoy CBS and Showtime quality content for many years to come,” said Derek Chang, Executive Vice President, Content Strategy and Development, DIRECTV. Popular CBS shows include Survivor, Big Brother, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and The Amazing Race, among others.
