Starting today Google has kicked off it’s Fiber service, allowing Kansas City residents to sign up for either the Gigabit + TV plan, Gigabit Internet plan, or Free Internet plan. Google Fiber TV service currently offers almost two hundred channels, and because the service runs on a gigabit network they do not charge additional fees for HD channels. Google recently added new channels such as ABC Family, Disney XD, ESPN, and Ovation to the Google Fiber lineup. (See below for additional new channels.) Earlier this week, Google said at least 180 out of 202 “fiberhoods” had qualified for the service. Today, Google is expected to announce all the neighborhoods in Kansas City where the service will be offered.
