HomeMediaMagazine wrote that Netflix is “quietly offering” subscribers in the U.S. a free month of disc rentals or free month of streaming video – depending on which service you DON’T have. According to the industry pub, Netflix disclosed the info in a “company blog.” While we couldn’t find any evidence of the quiet promotion anywhere, we did find something in the Netflix Support section of their website. There, under the question “Can I get a free trial for streaming or DVDs,” Netflix responds: “If you are currently a streaming-only member and would like to try our DVD service, you may be eligible for a one month free trial. The same goes for current DVD-only members.” So, it looks like subs “may be eligible” for a free trial, but you many have to contact Netflix for the freebie. Why offer a month trial? Although Netflix boasts 24 million streaming subscribers nationwide, the company did suffer losses after the split of their DVD rental and streaming services almost a year ago. A few more “double subscribers” would certainly help their bottom line. If anyone has further info, please comment below. In other recent news, Netflix updated their Account Management features, allowing you to manage your streaming and DVD choices individually.
