In Japan, Sony has announced a shipment date for the “nasne,” a networked recorder and 500GB media storage device. The nasne comes with built-in digital terrestrial and satellite tuners, and can be connected to other Sony devices such as PlayStation 3 consoles, PlayStation Vita, VAIO PCs, and the Sony Tablet / Xperia. A total of 4 nasne devices can be connected to a PS3, allowing the recording of 4 TV programs simultaneously. As far as storage, if 500GB doesn’t suit your needs an external HD can be connected via USB 2.0, Type A. The nasne will hit shelves on July 19, 2012, selling for a suggested retail price of 16,980 Yen (approx. $210 US).
