Hulu will launch an original TV show next month titled “Battleground” that follows Hulu’s first original documentary “A Day In The Life” which premiered last fall. “Battleground” is described as a “workplace dramedy” focusing on a political campaign for a Senate seat in Wisconsin. The show is produced by JD Walsh, Hagai Shaham and Marc Webb. Hulu’s parent companies News Corp (FOX), Disney/ABC, and NBC Universal hope the show will further the company’s pursuit of becoming a content provider, not just a distributer.
Hulu reported the company’s revenue grew to $420 million in 2011, even amidst a failed sell-off of the company last fall. The company says they now have over 1.5 million paying subscribers.
Battleground premieres on Hulu on February 14, 2012. You must be subscribed to Hulu Plus to view the show.
