DirecTV subscribers may lose Fox channels

In yet another carriage dispute that really does nothing for TV viewers except piss them off, DirecTV is threatening to pull the plug on Fox channels citing demands from Fox for 40% more in subscription fees.

Wii and Nintendo 3DS to get Hulu Plus

Nintendo has announced Hulu Plus will be available for Wii consoles and the mobile 3DS by the end of the year. With Hulu Plus, users will be able to stream movies and TV shows from the Hulu library for $7.99 per month. A few titles queued up on Hulu Plus include Glee, Dancing with the Stars, and Lost all of which will stream with limited advertising.

Weather Channel launches 3D app for iPad

If you've got an iPad you might want to check out the new interactive 3D map application from Weather Channel. The free app gives you weather-triggered background images (which are animated in 3D on iPad 2 models), a screen with forecasts from 10-days all the way down to 15-minute increments, a 3D spinning globe, news mashup, social networking integration, and video clips in HD quality. You can download the app from the Apple Store or check out a demo on YouTube.

‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ on Blu-ray & DVD

20th Century Fox has announced Rise of the Planet of the Apes on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. So far two editions are scheduled to hit shelves on Dec. 13, 2011 including a Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo with Digital Copy ($39.99) and Single-Disc DVD ($29.99).

2011 MLB World Series schedule on FOX

FOX Network has got the full lineup of MLB World Series games starting Weds., October 19 at 8:05PM Eastern. This year it's the 90/72 St. Louis Cardinals vs. the 96/66 Texas Rangers. In the opening game we'll see St. Louis' Chris Carpenter against the Ranger's C.J. Wilson

Netflix now supporting tablets with Android 3.x

Netflix announced support for tablets running Android 3.x. The new Netflix app version 1.5 is available free-of-charge to download in the Android Market. The company also announced Android support for customers in Canada and Latin America who want to stream content on their smartphones and tablets.

Google reveals Ice Cream Sandwich Android OS

Google has revealed its latest iteration of the Android platform branded "Ice Cream Sandwich," complete with a splash of new features that should get any Android developer excited. In the big picture, Android 4.0 is expected to work on both tablets and smartphones, effectively combining Honeycomb and Gingerbread operating systems into one. According to Google UX head Matias Duarte, Android 4.0 should "simplify user's lives."

PlayStation Vita gets February 22 release date

Sony's next entry into handheld gaming and multimedia goodness, the very pretty and actually-not-that-pricey PlayStation Vita, now has an official release date: February 22, 2012. Two models will be available on that Wednesday, a Wi-Fi enabled version at $249, and a 3G/Wi-Fi model for $299.

Disney is offering a $5 coupon for the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 5-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack. The 5-disc set includes a Blu-ray 3D disc, two Blu-ray discs, DVD and Digital Copy. The coupon is only valid through October 23, 2011.
