Up until now OLED displays have always been on the small side, but LG’s new OLED display is anything but that. The 55″ OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) display will be presented at CES 2011, boasting 100,000:1 contrast ratio and vibrant colors that challenge any LCD display. OLED technology uses self-generating diodes that have reaction velocity 1000 quicker than liquid crystal. And, light-emitting diodes utilize less power than LCD because they can be turned on or off and don’t utilize a separate lighting unit. OLED panels can also be much thinner than other LCD panels. The 55″ LG display will be on view at CES 2012. Unfortunately, only select customers and media will be allowed to see it.
