If you’re an Xbox 360 owner you’ll get an app for movie network EPIX when Microsoft launches the new LIVE interface on Dec. 6. The EPIX app will utilize Kinect voice and gesture commands, enhancing the overall movie search interface. You’ll need an EPIX subscription, of course, through your TV service provider (unfortunately, EPIX doesn’t sell its product outside the TV space). Subscriptions to EPIX also include access to the company’s other channels EPIX SVOD and EpixHD.com. The Xbox app will support streaming of over 3,000 titles and high-definition quality.
EPIX is a joint venture between Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate that offers premium films online, on television, and through other devices such as mobile phones and tablets. Current films offered via the multiple channels include Rocky, True Grit, Rango, and titles from the Star Trek and James Bond franchises.
“As we become available on more popular and leading devices like Xbox, we will be able to build a relationship with a younger audience that will help drive business for our partners,” said Mark Greenberg, EPIX President and CEO.
Supporting TV partners include Verizon, DISH, Cox, Charter, Mediacom, and Suddenlink.
