Great news for Netflix subscribers today, as the company announced Miramax titles will soon be available to watch instantly on HDTVs, PCs and mobile devices. Netflix and Miramax have signed a multi-year digital streaming agreement which includes 68 Academy Award-winning films.
This marks the first time Miramax titles such as “Good Will Hunting,” “Cinema Paradiso,” and “Pulp Fiction” will be available through a digital subscriber-based service. In total, Miramax will be granting digital licenses to 83 Oscar-nominated films. An exact number of titles other than Academy Award-nominated was not provided. The announcement also didn’t specify whether or not any of the titles will be offered in HD quality.
“From day one, we’ve been very clear about the importance of digital and our desire to respond to the significant pent-up demand for our films — delivering to consumers whenever and wherever they want,” said Mike Lang, CEO of Miramax.
