TiVo has added the ability of video podcasts and RSS feeds to publish directly to a TiVo DVR, including the TiVo Series3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL models. The new podcast channels number in the hundreds, and mainstream providers include CBS, FOX, Oprah, and G4.
TiVo users also have the ability to watch web content by entering the URL through the Video On Demand menu on the DVR.
Publishers can now provide video content feeds using H.264 formatted video and RSS (Really Simple Syndication). To get published you have to request the feed be added to the TiVo directory. New feeds are up to TiVo’s discretion.
However, TiVo does not control the video quality of the content so you can imagine there will be a wide range of resolutions — good and bad — available in the content listings.
For more information on how to publish RSS content to the TiVo DVR check out www.tivo.com/rssvideo.
i guess you could have embedded ads in your videos – that is the only way I can see
Does anyone know if you can make money off the RSS feeds? It would be cool if Tivo payed commission on content provided.
