The best selling Blu-ray disc last week was Taken, from EuropaCorp and 20th Century Fox, according to Home Media Research. The stats come from sales of discs up until May 17. Coming in second was Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and third was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
The vampires hold another spot in the top five as the Underworld Trilogy box-set, which also contains “Rise of the Lycans” came in fourth in sales. Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection, Star Trek: Motion Picture Trilogy, and Star Trek: The Original Series – Season 1 took up the fifth, sixth and seventh spots.
Blu-ray Disc revenue was up 285.12% from the same week in 2008 the research reveals. To compare, standard DVD revenue was only up 7.71% from the same week last year.
