The Pioneer BDR-2203 will support a number of formats (listed below), boasting 6 different Blu-ray (BD) formats including BD-R, BD-R DL, BD-RE, BD-RE DL, BD-ROM, and BD-ROM DL. If you wanna burn some quick DVDs the writer will also feature 16x DVD-R/+R SL compatibility.
Engineers testing the BDR-2203 found that it would take users approximately 15 minutes to burn 25GB of data to a single layer BD disc, and about double that time to burn 50GB.
“When considering that a dual-layer Blu-ray Disc is equivalent to ten single-layer DVDs, our BDR-2203 is a viable PC upgrade,” said Steve Cohn, director of optical disc sales for Pioneer Electronics (USA).
