‘The Mustang Challenge’ to air on HD Theater

Throughout the summer of ’08, HD Theater’s WHY WE RACE: THE MUSTANG CHALLENGE crew has been filming the drama leading up to the first Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup. The new road racing series features pro racers who all drive identical Ford Mustang FR500S cars.

The eight race schedule across North America will begin this coming Sunday, Dec. 7 from 8-9 pm ET. It will continue for three consecutive Sundays throughout December. If you happen to miss the first episode there are plenty of other scheduled broadcasts.

To film some of the footage, tiny HD cameras were mounted inside the racing cars, putting you virtually inside to experience every bump, position change and hairpin turn. Cameras also document the racing culture itself, following its diverse drivers and teams.

HD Theater comes from Discovery Communications and is available in 1080i and 5.1 digital surround sound wherever the HD broadcasts are available.

Not available in Calgary (Shaw) – WTF?

This looks cool. Were the teams able to tweak the cars at all to improve performance or was it off limits?
