Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is one step closer to streaming HD content from Netflix. On November 19, the company will launch the Xbox Experience, which will offer 300 HD titles from the Netflix library. Xbox will be the first partner to offer streaming HD and requires an Xbox Live Gold membership as well as a Netflix subscription.
Other hardware on the market that was built to offer Netflix HD include Samsung’s BD-P2500 and BD-P2550 Blu-ray disc players and LG Electronics’ BD300 Network Blu-ray disc player which was the first BD player to offer Netflix. According to Netflix, Xbox was given priority and will likely bring some competition to Apple TV and Playstation which both offer streaming HD.
This week TiVo also announced the addition of Netflix to their DVR service. The upgrade will allow streaming content from the 12,000 title Netflix library. Both standard (the majority of the Netflix library) and high-definition resolutions will be available.
Streaming to PC or Mac is currently not available, and according to Netflix not in development at this time.
