‘Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2’ coming to Blu-ray

Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2 will be released on Blu-ray Disc September 9. The 2-disc high-definition set is now available for pre-order on Amazon. However there is some speculation about whether or not to wait for the release of the elusive director’s cut Kill Bill – The Whole Bloody Affair, a box set that was much anticipated on standard DVD but never realized in the United States.

It’s almost a mirror image of what happened when the standard-definition release of Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2 was released a couple years back. The DVD set is currently out-of-print, but you can pick up some used copies on Amazon. However many Tarantino fans refrained from buying the Kill Bill – Volumes 1 & 2 on DVD because they thought something better was coming out. The Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2 set are nothing special, just the original movies with a wrap, not even a box.

Rumors are that Kill Bill – The Whole Bloody Affair on Blu-ray Disc will also be released soon along with the release of the Vol. 1 & 2 set. But don’t hold your breath. Fans waited for months and then years for the ‘The Whole Bloody Affair’ on DVD and now it is discontinued. The hope is that ‘The Whole Bloody Affair’ will contain a director’s cut with additional footage and added features.

Venture to say it may be too early to plan which set to buy even if there is a ‘Whole Bloody Affair’ Blu-ray release. A true fan may not care which release gives you more value for the buck, and pre-order the Kill Bill – Volumes 1 & 2 at $29.99, a 43% discount from the list price of $69.99.
