Abington, Mass. close to FiOS TV service

verizon logoResidents of Abington, Massachusetts are closer to having another option for television programming. Verizon, which provides fiber-optic services (FiOS) for television, internet and phone, was granted a cable franchise last Monday on Feb. 25. The license will allow Verizon to service approximately 5,000 homes, offering high speed internet and high-definition services.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring FiOS TV to residents in Abington,” said Donna Cupelo, Verizon region president for Massachusetts and Rhode Island. “Since the launch of FiOS TV in Massachusetts last year, we are continuing our efforts to meet the consumer demand for cable TV choice.”

FiOS TV is the first company to offer fiber-to-the premises (FTTP) services, combining high quality television, phone services and internet with download speeds up 50 Mbps (megabits per second).
