Rockstar’s upcoming game, Red Dead Redemption, is shaping up to be the perfect marriage of open-world GTA antics and wild west adventure. Its gorgeous, cinematic presentation and extreme ad campaign are compelling Rockstar’s GM Neil Stephen to label it their most ambitious title yet.
Famed hacker George Hotz (aka GeoHot) has set his sights on the Sony Playstation 3 in the wake of recent news about firmware update 3.21. According to Hotz, his vendetta “isn’t about getting what you didn’t pay for, it’s about making sure you do get what you did.”

One of Valve’s head writers recently appeared on GameTrailers TV to explain a little bit about Left 4 Dead 2‘s upcoming DLC, “The Passing”. Chet Faliszek explained how “the passing” not only refers to the crossing of paths with the original Left 4 Dead cast, it also means that one of those characters has literally passed on.

Mass Effect 2 is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive games that I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The fidelity of the graphics engine, the cinematic story telling and the rich universe that BioWare has created are light years ahead of anything else on the market today. However, as I play Mass Effect 2, I can’t help but question whether I am witnessing the evolution of the modern roleplaying game or the modern shooter. It’s an identity crisis that continually jolts me from my immersion in the story and makes me concerned about the homogenization of one of my favorite gaming genres.
