Verizon & Redbox to partner in movie rentals

Sometime this year Verizon and Coinstar (Redbox) will partner to offer customers additional options when they rent videos. Although details such as pricing were not provided, the partnership would allow customers to pay one fee to access movies on several platforms -- including physical and digital. The LLC (in which Verizon will own 65% and Redbox 35%), will leverage on Redbox's 35,000 kiosks and Verizon's online video-on-demand services.

FiOS TV apps coming soon to Samsung products

Today Samsung officially announced that Verizon FiOS TV apps would soon be available for Samsung Smart TVs and Smart Blu-ray players. Through the app, releasing this year, FiOS TV subscribers will be able to access 26 live TV channels including HD channels.

New York: Verizon customers now getting MSG HD

The two channels are being added over the next few days. Channels may vary by region, so Verizon has provided the following information. MSG HD will be on FiOS TV channel 577, 578 or 579. MSG+ HD will be on channel 579, 580 or 581.

Look out Netflix, here comes Verizon

Verizon will apparently launch a streaming service sometime in 2012 that will take on services such as Netflix, and potentially challenge traditional cable television services.

Verizon FiOS customers will get MSG HD [Update]

It's been a long time coming but finally Verizon FiOS TV customers in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut areas will soon be able to get MSG HD. Verizon says both MSG and MSG+ are "ultimately expected" to be offered to customers in high-definition mid-December -- although no exact date was given.
