Disney has released the official trailer for The Mandalorian and it looks like television we’ve never seen before. The sets, visual styling, and cinematography are reminiscent of the early and later Star Wars films, as well as the “Star Wars Story” titles, but has its own edge that brings a retro feel to high production TV.
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. “The Mandalorian” is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
In The Mandalorian, directed by Jon Favreau, Pedro Pascal plays the lead role in all eight episodes. In the trailer, we also get a look at famed director Werner Herzog who will appear in one episode. Nick Nolte, Emily Swallow, and Carl Weathers are listed as acting in one episode each. Gina Carano, Brendan Wayne, Jamal Antar, Bernard Bullen, and Omid Abtahi are also among the cast.
The first season was produced by Fairview Entertainment and Lucasfilm.
The Mandalorian premieres on Tuesday, November 12, day-and-date with the launch of Disney+ — Disney’s new streaming service that will compete with Netflix.
