Universal Pictures’ Waterworld (1995) starring Kevin Costner is releasing to 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc. The upcoming 2-disc edition includes the theatrical version in 2160p and DTS:X audio for an immersive sound experience (by the way, the film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Sound!).
In addition to the theatrical version of WaterWorld, the edition includes an extended version of the film with 40 extra minutes. Unfortunately, the extended version is only available in HD (1080p).
A code to redeem a Digital Copy through Movies Anywhere is also included in the case, which may be eligible for Digital 4k UHD depending on the digital movie service.
WaterWorld in 4k Ultra HD is presented at 1.85:1 widescreen aspect ratio with High Dynamic Range provided by the HDR10 specification. Audio, as mentioned above is offered in DTS:X as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and in multiple languages including Japanese, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
The 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray edition of WaterWorld , releasing to stores on July 9, is list-priced $29.99 and available to order from Amazon and other retailers. Best Buy also has a SteelBook Limited Edition selling for $24.99.
