Movies Anywhere Now Supports 4k & HDR

“Black Panther” (2018) with 4k/HDR spec on Movies Anywhere app.

Movies Anywhere quietly launched support for 4k and HDR (High Dynamic Range) titles. The Disney-owned service has been around for over a year, but until now has not supported the playback of 4k/HDR titles, or displayed the spec in the title description.

Digital movies still have to be purchased from a supporting service though, like iTunes, Prime Video or Vudu, so whether or not a title is available in 4k/HDR depends on the service.

4k/HDR on Movies Anywhere is currently supported on Apple TV 4k, select Roku models, Chromecast Ultra, Fire TV w/4k, Nvidia Shield, Toshiba Fire TV Edition, and Sony Bravia Android Smart TVs.
