Every week Vudu adds some new movies to their digital library of 4k titles, and, most include HDR (High Dynamic Range) attributions for improved color depth through the Dolby Vision or HDR10 specifications. You need a 4k HDR TV to see what the specifications offer, but, the movies will play just fine on a 4k TV with 4-times the resolution as 1080p (Full HD) TVs.
Audio formats may vary by film, even within franchises. For example, Daddy’s Home 2 has Dolby Atmos audio on Vudu but the original Daddy’s Home only has Dolby Digital Plus 5.1.
Here are some highlights from the latest Digital UHD movies now on Vudu.
In the thriller genre, A Quiet Place starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt looks great in 4k with HDR, and, the Dolby Atmos soundtrack brings plenty of subtle details to this almost-silent film that is best enjoyed with surround sound or a decent pair of headphones.
For action, Avengers: Infinity War has just been added in 4k and is one of more anticipated home media releases of the year. With 2160p resolution, High Dynamic Range that increases color depth, and Dolby Atmos audio you can enjoy this film at home almost as much as on the big screen.
Other films we suggest in 4k include Jurassic World, Pacific Rim: Uprising, Ready Player One, The Equalizer, Serenity and Tomb Raider.
Vudu’s Digital UHD movies range in price from about $13.99 (Serenity, for example) to $29.99, although most newer releases fall between $19.99 and $24.99.
