Marvel Studio’s Black Panther has been dominating the box office with over $400M earned domestically and $300M worldwide. The film is already available to pre-order on Blu-ray and 4k Blu-ray, and both Best Buy and Target have released artwork and details on their own exclusive disc editions. Here’s a look at these upcoming Blu-ray titles.
Best Buy Exclusive
Best Buy has Black Panther available to pre-order in either Blu-ray or 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook combo editions. Both the back and front of the limited edition SteelBook case features Black Panther (aka “T’Challa”) painted with a monochromatic watercolor effect, while the inside is a picturesque photographic landscape of the kingdom of Wakanda enhanced with characters from the film.
The Only @ Best Buy 2-disc editions of Black Panther include either a Blu-ray Disc (with the 4k Blu-ray edition) or DVD (with Blu-ray), as well as a digital copy redeemable with multiple services such as Movies Anywhere, UltraViolet and iTunes. Best Buy is selling Black Panther on 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray for $35 and Black Panther on Blu-ray for $29.99.
Target Exclusive
Target’s exclusive Blu-ray edition of Black Panther includes an exclusive filmmaker behind-the-scenes 40-page gallery book along with the Blu-ray and Digital Copy. The edition does not seem to include a DVD, which is unfortunate given the saturation of DVD players in homes, cars, and PCs. The Blu-ray exclusive sells for $24.99 and features custom artwork on the cover and reverse of the Blu-ray case.
Walmart Exclusive
Walmart has their own exclusive retailer edition of Black Panther that sells for $24.96. The edition includes the standard bonus features listed below, but Walmart has not confirmed what the exclusive content is. It could be a set of 4 movie cards that are pictured with the Blu-ray. It also looks like the artwork isn’t finalized (where is the Digital Copy and DVD in the header?). We’re still waiting for more details and will update this section when available.
Special Features
There are quite a few special features available on the standard Blu-ray and 4k Blu-ray editions of Black Panther, including four deleted scenes, a Director’s Intro, gag reel, Director’s commentary, and more.
