Star Wars: The Last Jedi is still in theaters worldwide, earning $600M at the domestic box office and almost $1.3B worldwide (yeah, that’s “B” for billions). Disney execs have got to be as happy as clams, especially considering a new Star Wars franchise film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, will release just four months from now on May 25th. I mean, what’s better to promote a new film than a home media release of a blockbuster like ‘The Last Jedi’ to disc and digital?
Digital SD/HD/UHD Pre-Orders
Anyway, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now available to pre-order in digital formats from services that include Apple iTunes, FandangoNow, Google Play, Microsoft Video, and Vudu. We don’t know the actual street date yet, but we expect some time in March or April. [Update: Disney has announced the digital versions releasing on Mar. 13, 2018.]
It’s too early to predict how much bonus material will be included with the digital purchase, but Vudu lists one featurette (unnamed) and Microsoft Video shows the 3-minute featurette “New Head of the Resistance” with the digital purchase. [Update: Extra content with the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi will include the feature-length documentary “The Director and the Jedi” as well as over two hours of bonus footage with 14 deleted scenes.]
From the digital video services we mentioned, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is available in Digital HD for $19.99. A couple services, like iTunes and Google Play, are selling the SD version for $14.99.
What’s going to be interesting to see is if any services will sell a Digital UHD (4k) version of the film. Vudu, oddly enough, offers a pre-order of ‘The Last Jedi” in Digital UHD for $24.99. But to date, there are no Star Wars films available in 4k. Will ‘The Last Jedi’ be the first?
Apple sells all their HD movies for the same price as 4k, so the $19.99 should also include UHD if it ever was available. This also holds true for FandangoNow, but Google Play still sells many titles in UHD for $29.99. Here’s where you can pre-order ‘The Last Jedi’ in digital formats.

Blu-ray/4k Blu-ray Pre-orders
Retailers want to be sure to get pre-sales up for ‘The Last Jedi’ as to not miss out on any potential customers, even though no release date has been confirmed. Best Buy has listed pre-orders of exclusive Blu-ray and 4k Blu-ray SteelBook editions of Star Wars: The Last Jedi for $29.99 and $34.99, respectively. [Update: Disney has announced the disc versions will release on Mar. 27, 2018.]
Target is offering their own exclusive Blu-ray edition that comes with a 40-page booklet with an inside, behind-the-scenes look at the making of film including exclusive images, facts and personal insights from the filmmakers. None of the versions we’ve seen, by the way, indicate a 3D disc of the film even though the ‘The Last Jedi’ played at 3D theaters. Here’s where you can pre-order Blu-ray Disc editions of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
