The Sony Pictures Store links the UltraViolet database of movies and TV shows, so titles you own should be accessible on the website and apps, as well as UV-supporting services such as FandangoNow and Vudu. But not all those services support 4k and/or HDR.
For example, The Da Vinci Code, even if purchased in Digital UHD or redeemed with the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc, won’t play in UHD on Vudu. Warcraft, which can be redeemed on Vudu through UltraViolet in UHD, does not port to Fandango in 4k.
Likewise, not all UV titles are viewable on Sony Pictures Store, regardless of whether in HD or UHD resolution. The store only plays Sony titles, so if you want to watch 20th Century Fox’s Logan or Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman you’ll have to look elsewhere.
To watch movies in 4k/HDR from Sony, use the Ultra 4k Movies & TV app powered by the Sony Pictures Store. The premium service allows purchase, rental and viewing of previously-purchased titles on Sony BRAVIA 4K Android TVs.
On desktop or laptop, you can watch up to HD movies from Sony Pictures through FandangoNOW, Vudu, or SonyPicturesStore.com. With Vudu you need Adobe Flash installed (soon to be replaced) and on the SonyPicturesStore.com you need the Silverlight player.
On tablets or phones, you need the FandangoNOW app or Vudu app, or, use the Safari browser and navigate to SonyPictures.com on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
Unfortunately, you can’t get the Ultra 4k Movies & TV app on PS4, PS4 Pro, or Sony 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray player, yet.
