Resident Evil has become the longest running film series based on a video game, with ‘The Final Chapter’ currently in theaters worldwide. The sixth franchise film has been announced for Blu-ray including 4k Ultra HD and 3D Blu-ray editions to release on May 9, 2017. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will also release to Digital HD, one week earlier on May 2, 2017. [Updated: We added the official package art. Also removed references to a 3D release.]
On Blu-ray, the film is presented in 1080p (Full HD) and on Ultra HD Blu-ray 2160p (4k) resolution. We expect the 4k Blu-ray to also include HDR color specs for TVs that support the color specification. We don’t have specs yet on audio and aspect ratio but will update once received. Update: 4k Blu-ray specs include 2160p video at 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR. The Soundtrack is offered in English Dolby Atmos (compatible with Dolby TrueHD 7.1).
The Blu-ray editions will include several bonus features including the featurettes “Explore the Hive,” “Stunts & Weaponry,” and The Badass Trinity & The Women of Resident Evil,” Other extras include “Retaliation Mode” and a sneak peek at the upcoming Japanese 3D animated biopunk film “Resident Evil: Vendetta.”
